Best Tour Tips

With all the Chicago architectural boat tours available, which cruise will be the best for you? The fact is, that all of them are pretty good and the one you take may come down to availability or departure location. There are are some important tips to consider to help you have the best architecture tour of Chicago possible. With all of the great things to do in Chicago, you will surely find that the architecture tour is a highlight of your trip.

First, make sure that you know what your architecture cruise covers and how long it is.  Depending on what you are looking for, some boat tours may be a bit short or bore you with too much architecture (not likely though). Especially for visitors traveling with children, seniors, or people with medical conditions, make sure you know ahead of time how long your tour will last. Typical tours will run between 1 and 2 hours in duration. Don’t worry, bathrooms are available on just about all of the Chicago’s architecture tours.

It is important to be prepared prior to boarding the boat to get the most out of your tour.  Being prepared would include details such as bringing sun tan lotion (summer sun in Chicago can be intense), snacks, and a fully charged camera.  It’s also a good idea to use the bathroom ahead of time so as not to miss anything.

Arrive to your architectural boat tour of Chicago early to get the best seat on the ship. Depending on your preference, the best seats on board typically are on the upper deck (if there is one) or in the front of the boat. There will be speakers throughout the boat so do not worry about not hearing your tour guide.

Do yourself a favor and check the weather forecast ahead of the architecture cruise. Chicago weather can change quickly and no one enjoys being too hot or cold. It can be very windy due to the proximity of Lake Michigan, so keep this in mind.
